Chapter 14

“Nothing, I’m bored and want to go do something.  What are you doing?”

“Wait I thought you went to the lake.”

“Yeah, mom wasn’t feeling the best and their car had a flat tire so we decided to stay home nothing happening up there anyway. What are you doing?”

“Sitting here arguing with sir sassy pants.  Hold on a second.” I put her on mute and ask Jon.

“Wanna meet one of my best friends?”

“Sure is she a fan?”

“Would I hang out with someone with no taste in music? Of course she’s a Jovi fan.  Did you figure out where we’re going to for lunch I’ll have her meet us there.”

“Yep I wanna go to Max’s Wine Dive”

I take the mute off the phone and smile, “Hey Anne are you dressed and ready to head out?”

“Yeah why?” She asked slowly with that question in her voice that says oh oh what is she up to.

“Well Jon and I are going out for lunch so why don’t you meet us.  We’re going to Max’s Wine Dive.” And while I was talking to her Jon found the address on his phone and showed it to me. “Take 90 and its about 45 min from you at 1482 N Milwaukee Ave.”

“Is it accessible?”

“Um not sure hold on I’ll check on it, just get in the car and start coming this way if its not I’ll call and give you a new place but I’ll call and find out.”

“OK see you soon.” Anne grabbed her purse and keys after fixing her makeup and took off.

I hung up with Anne and looked at Jon.  “Do you have their number?”

“Yes why?” He asked.

“Anne is in a wheel-chair and I need to call and find out if this place is accessible.”

“Oh ok if there’s stairs I can help her up.”  He offered and I kissed him.  “You’re so sweet I still wanna check”

After calling and confirming there are no stairs and the doors have access buttons, the tables are a normal height etc.  I call Anne back and tell her we’re all good and we’ll meet her there in about 45 minutes and give her the address again for her GPS. She had just left her house so I knew we had a little time.  Jon picked up his phone to call for a car and I looked at him.  “Baby we’re in Chicago we can take public transportation.”

“Are you kidding me I’ll get mobbed.”

“You greatly exaggerate, no one thinks you’re here remember you can go under the radar for a few days.”

“Well its my birthday so I don’t wanna.” He stuck his tongue out at me.

“You are so lucky its your birthday and I find you cute.” I moved to straddle his legs before kissing him.  Once he calls for the car we kiss for another 20 minutes before we stop kissing and go downstairs for the car.   Once we’re moving, we talk about how I met Anne and yes it was through Jovi, I talk to him about all our adventures and yes she is a diehard fan so she might have a little problem talking to him at first, then she’ll probably get all loud and boisterous about something or other, more than likely the Richie drama.

He scrunched up his nose, “This is going to be a typical fan thing.”

“No honey I’ll go help her in and make sure that’s not what happens.  She’ll just have a minor freak out then it’ll be good.”

“Ok do I have an out if it gets awkward?”

“Yeah feel free to excuse yourself and leave I’ll take the train home.”

“I’m not going to leave you in town by yourself.” He tells me and puts his hand possessively on my thigh.

“Baby I walk and take trains in this city every day.  I have for almost a year now I’m good.  I don’t want you to be where you feel awkward but you can also just tell her - hey I’m not JBJ I’m Jon her boyfriend thats all.”

“OH I’m your boyfriend huh?” He smiled and kissed me.

“Yep, remember that Mr.” I tease with a kiss and a little nibble on his bottom lip.  The car arrives at the restaurant and we get out.  Him first and he holds his hand down for me. The little things he does just make me fall for him even more.

Once we are in the restaurant for a little while Anne texts me that she’s there.  “Ok babe I’m going to go get her if you wanna be her friend she likes diet coke - caffeine free if they have it.” I give him a quick kiss and go outside to get Anne.

“OMG I can’t believe I’m about to meet Jon Bon Jovi!” She tries to muffle her scream but its still there.  I laugh knowing the feeling well but I can’t have her do that in front of him.

“Ok you have to be very cool in front of him, he’s already on edge knowing you’re a fan.”

“How does he know?” She says exasperated.

“Um he was right there when you called me he kind of heard the ring tone.”

“OH shit I can’t believe you still have that for a ring tone for me. I thought you were going to change it.” Anne exclaimed.

“Well life happened so I kind of forgot.  Just remember ok he’s not JBJ he’s actually just Jon.  He wants to meet my friend not another rabid fan.”
