I open the tablet and start showing him what I’ve found and we get into a discussion about cost, my thought is rent should be minimal so we aren’t wasting money since we’ll only use it 3 days a week. His thought is that he wants me safe in case I need to stay there when he’s in Europe or something we need to look more high end. I hate the idea of spending money uselessly. He lowers his voice so only I can hear and tells me, “Honey I know its hard for you to accept but we have money.” He then whispered in my ear, “We are worth over $2 Billion at this point”.
“What!” I exclaim.
“Yes honey I invested wisely and sold things at profits. Its ok if we get a place that makes me confident that you’ll be safe.”
At that I stop worrying so much about spending the money. After all it makes me calm down when I realize even though I knew we had a few million in the bank I never realized how insanely rich Jon was. “Why didn’t you make me sign a prenup?”
“Because we’re not getting divorced. Besides money doesn’t mean much to me, the kids are taken care of they have trust funds that no one can touch but them. Not even me unless they for some reason pass before me. I don’t have to worry about saving more I want them to be well off but not to the point where they can get lazy so I’m not trying to save even more for them.”
“Well if that’s the case I’ll start dreaming.” She smiled.
“Honestly honey I haven’t bought you a wedding present yet, I think a house where you want it could be the perfect present.”
“Another place?”
“Yes they are great tax right offs.” He smiled.
“You shit.” I laugh and tickle him. Once we settle in on the train he realizes we have 15 minutes left. “This isn’t a bad way to travel.”
“God I love being able to say I told you so.” I grin.
It doesn’t take them more than 2 days of looking after she gets out of work to find a condo they both agree on. It has the view Jon needs and the location near the subway that Serena wants. They decide that while they don’t want to make too many changes there are a few that are required. She declares they need new flooring and he determines the kitchen is too cramped so he’s going to get some custom cabinets in there that are more shallow so the counter can be cut in half and allow for more than one person to stand in the kitchen at one time. Other than that neither of them care much about the rest of the place because they figure they’ll be able to decorate it to soot their style. As soon as they figure out what that looks like as a couple.
Women do sometimes make sense. Great talk. You don't want to think she only married for your $ jon. Obviously not, if she is concerned about spending it.
